[EDITOR'S NOTE: This is a combined review with ENCYCLOPEDIA BROWN GETS HIS MAN.]--Modest 10-year-old genius Leroy "Encyclopedia" Brown comes to life in the brisk, high voice of Greg Steinbruner. His earnest, straightforward delivery is sprinkled with wry humor and occasional puns and jokes as Encyclopedia solves mysteries for his friends and his father, the police chief of Idaville. Each book contains 10 mysteries. And in each episode a puzzle or crime is introduced, investigated by the hero and, after the listener is given time to ponder possibilities, the solution is given. There's a mix of mysteries ranging from those solved by using common knowledge to those using very esoteric facts. In this book Steinbruner's use of distinctive voices for various characters is an appealing addition. R.H.H. (c) AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine
